Dancing Pajamas - Pajama
Party Tips
Have your own pajama party. It makes a great family night, or
fundraiser event too!
Pajama
Parties are great fun, and make great themes for fundraisers or just Family Fun Nights. I have performed at many over
the years, at libraries, schools, book stores, classrooms, parks
departments, and churches. Children LOVE to go out in public in their
pajamas, but you can be sure there won’t be any sleeping involved! In fact,
that’s how my song Dancing Pajamas came to be!
Here are
some ideas to get you started:
-
Invite the whole family to wear
pajamas, and invite children to bring a favorite stuffed animal and
blankie. Families can sit on the floor on the family blanket.
-
Read a bedtime story -Some, like
Goodnight, Moon, are available in Big Book format
-
Sing a few bedtime songs-
Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Hush Little Baby, I’ve Been Working on the
Railroad (a favorite daddy lullaby!), Ten in Bed, or Five Little Monkeys
(all of these are available in book form, but children know them and love
to sing and act them out them without the book).
-
Do a couple of simple movement
games, like Ring Around the Rosie- including everyone! Children will want
to do this 2 or 3 times).
-
Gather together CD’s or songs
from various CD’s for your bedtime music. There are lots of fun not-sleepy
bedtime songs by well-know artists.
-
Provide a simple snack, like
juice and popcorn in a cup, or a few animal crackers.
Invite parents to share a favorite lullaby or bedtime story
-
Of course, you can hire a local
children’s performer to provide entertainment. Make sure they know you
have having a pajama party, and ask them to do songs for the theme.
-
Hold a silent auction as a
fundraiser which can be going on while you’re doing activities with the
children an staff.
